- I was raised in the south starting around the middle of the last century. I am of (at least) Scottish, Irish, English and Cherokee descent. I have been told in the past that I resemble, variously, George Harrison, Alice Cooper, B.J. Thomas, and some unknown person named Bart Cohen, but now I'm just an old guy with too much hair that's well on its way to being gray. I might style myself as a curmudgeon had that term not developed certain favorable connotations which I do not feel I possess. I am quick to aggravation, but slow to out-and-out anger. My hope is that this forum will allow me to vent a little so that I don't seem like a chronic complainer to my friends.

What the heck is going on this year? Is it just me or are the celebs dropping like flies.
So sad. She was full of light and love.
Mike - I started to make some flippant response about not being sure how flies drop, but it seems inappropriate.
Not sure what's going this year, but it's almost over.
la - Yeah, this one hit me harder than I would have expected. Not sure why. Peter, Paul & Mary meant a lot to the world of music. They always seemed very sincere in their causes.
A vibrant voice has been lost. RIP Mary Travers.

This really is sad. Their music was wonderful and their sincerity undoubted. That said, I think The Kingston Trio did a better version of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," but that takes nothing away from the excellence of PP&M. Good bye, Mary.
Bilbo - She will be missed. I agree that the Kingston Trio did the definitive version of that song (along with many others), but this seemed appropriate as a goodbye song for Mary.
I shall truly pray for botha youse
